So, in the middle of everything today, we ran across a hellaciously distressed momma mallard and a bunch of her baby ducks that had fallen down a sewer grate. Another guy was already trying to fish them out, so my friend and I called animal control before we tried to fish the rest of them out. When Animal Control got there, we had all of them out and the mother duck quacking very happily. I was surprised - none of us got snapped at or hurt. I was even holding onto a bag at one point that had all of them in it and she just watched me. 

I love how the duck is perched on the guy’s butt

I’M SO HAPPY

This is the cutest thing ever. So many people say that animals are dumb and don’t understand, but let me tell you, they understand so much more then we think. This duck clearly understood that these people were saving her babies, and I think it’s beautiful that you all stopped to rescue them<3

So why not? I’ll tell you why not. Because the world would be short one beautiful person. Because this one person could’ve been the one to make a difference in something. Because one less person would miss the Earth turning, miss the sun sets and sun rises, miss the stars dotting the night sky.

Because you would miss the warm breeze on a cool summer’s night. You’d miss the spring time flowers and baby animals. You’d miss the street lamps coming to life at dawn, or someone’s friendly smile. You’d miss the chance of starting a family. Loving someone. Being married. Going on a date. Seeing a movie, being with friends, doing stupid things. You would never hear a child’s first word, experience some kind of a miracle. You wouldn’t get that feeling of approval when you did something right, or that tingling excitement when you create something beautiful. You’d never know how great it feels to write a poem or a short story and have others around you love it to pieces.

You wouldn’t be able to drink a good cup of hot chocolate on a cold winter’s night, Or even complain about a crappy cup of hot chocolate on a cold winter’s night. You wouldn’t be able to catch snowflakes or have snowball fights, or go sledding or skiing.

You wouldn’t be able to learn something new. Try new things.Explore the world. Experience life at its greatest.
